The Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, on June 14, 2022, inaugurated the Planning Committee of Nigeria’s hosting of the inaugural United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Global Conference on ‘Linking Tourism, Culture and the Creative Industries: Pathways to Recovery and Inclusive Development. The global event will take place at the National Theatre Complex, Iganmu, Lagos, from Nov. 14th to 16th, 2022.

The Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO initiative was launched to advance the role of tourism in safeguarding rural villages, along with their landscapes, natural and cultural diversity, and their local values and activities, including local gastronomy.

Member States of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) have strongly aligned themselves behind its leadership and vision for the sector. Coming together for the 24th General Assembly in Madrid, Spain, Members from every global region approved the Organization’s Programme of Work and endorsed key initiatives designed to build a more a resilient, inclusive and sustainable tourism.

FTAN Establishes Nigerian Tourism Awards

President of federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria FTAN Mr. Nkereuwem Onung has formally inaugurated! a 6 - man team to steer the affairs of the Federation in FCT zone for the next two years.

The President who described the FCT Zonal Council as very strategic to FTAN said he believed that the Zonal Council will help to strengthen the existing relationship between FTAN and the Government especially Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The spiraling negative impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism sectors led the current leadership of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) to embark on sensitization visits to tourism facilities in Nigeria. Starting with Abuja yesterday, March 19th 2020, the President of FTAN, Alhaji Saleh Rabo, led a team of the Federation’s executive members to leading hospitality outlets including Transcorp Hilton hotel, Rockview Hotels and Kapital Klub Apartments.

The President of Nigeria Polo Federation, Nura Sani Kangiwa, in the company of other Executive Members of the Federation, went on a Courtesy Call to Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan-Enoh in Abuja, yesterday, Wednesday 15th November 2023. Discussions at the meeting centered on support and partnership of the Federal Ministry of Sports in the development of Polo in the country.
