The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has announced the opening of their new secretariat in Abuja’s highbrow area ofAsokoro. You may recall that upon assumption of their positions, after the election on June 29th 2017, the new FTAN Executive members promised to hit the ground running. They pledged to be proactive in spearheading tourism development in Nigeria, using FTAN as the catalyst.
Since the founding of FTAN, their Secretariat had always been donated by prominent members of the Federation free of charge; the last person is Chief Tomi Akingbogun, who allowed FTAN to use a hall in his prestigious Hotel Rosebud Abuja for about four years. Alhaji Saleh Kareem Rabo, during his acceptance speech as the new President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), vowed before the over 200 delegates that his first mission as the President is to secure a befitting office for FTAN within 3weeks in the post!
In an interview with Nigeria Travel Digest in Abuja earlier today 24th July, an excited Alhaji Saleh Rabo said “we are glad to have quickly secured a befitting office space and national secretariat for FTAN. The credit for it goes to the entire members of the new FTAN Executive Council. I heartily thank the Excos and also congratulate the FTAN family across Nigeria. I therefore encourage FTAN member associations, especially those in Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, to confidently use the new office for their meetings and seminars, whenever they are in Abuja.”
Then new FTAN Secretariat is located at No. 5, Lord Lugard Street, Asokoro Abuja. Interestingly, the office location is remarkably very close to Nigeria Police Force headquarters, and is also a stone-throw from the Federal Secretariat Abuja. The office location is central; as such accessing the secretariat would be very easy for the Federation members coming from outside Abuja.
When contacted to confirm the reports about the new office, Mr. Precious Okonji, the Administrative Secretary of FTAN said, “FTAN can now boast of a standard office located in the highbrow brow area of the Federal Capital Territory. The new office has an air-conditioned board room that can comfortably seat 30 people. It also has an exclusively furnished office for the President, the Secretary and the admin staff. This is a brilliant move in the right direction. As it is now FTAN can now host even the President of this country.”
