The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) recently announced the hosting of NTIFE - the Federation’s annual flagship tourism conference and exhibition.

NTIFE is an acronym for Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition; the event started in 2014. The fifth edition of NTIFE is scheduled to hold on the 19th and 20th of November 2019, at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja; Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Friday, October 18th 2019, laid the foundation for the Ekiti Airport, signalling the commencement of work on the agro -allied cargo airport, aimed at boosting the state’s agricultural, tourism and educational endowment. How are you copping with the issue of destination imbalance? 

The Federal government has intervened and the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, is trying to address these issues of destination imbalance whereby multiple frequencies and designations are given to foreign airlines, the government is addressing all that.

Stakeholders and operators of Nigerian tourism sector have charged governmet at all levels in the country to focus more the tourism in order to achieve accelerated development of the country as the oil wealthia fast dwindling.

The call was made by them yesterday in Lagos during tourism seminar organised by the Association of Nigerian Journaliats and Writers of Yoirism (ANJET). The Olota of Otta, Ogun State, who was the royal father of the, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, took the lead in making the call when heurged the government and Nigerians to explore tourism potential for job creation.

To reinforce the ongoing protection efforts in Yankari Game Reserve, conservationists have fitted six elephants with GPS/Satellite Collars to help provide real-time tracking of elephant herds. Country Director, Nigeria Programme, Wild Conservation Society (WCS), Mr. Andrew Dunn said the device will allow ranger teams to shadow the elephants at all times and alert the reserve manager whenever elephants are in danger or stray outside the reserve.

The Federal Government will demolish substantial part of the 40-year-old Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) terminal and replace it with the new one built by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in December. This is coming as aviation labour leaders have rejected the planned concession of four major airports in the country.

On the occasion of the World Tourism Day 2019, the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria has called on Governments in Nigeria, including Federal and States, to diversify the nation's economy by stimulating the development of tourism clusters and tourists destinations across the country. The looting of shops and the shutdown of several central business districts in several South African cities has unleashed violence and the destruction of property. The normal functioning of several cities has been disturbed by these acts, as public transportation was disturbed and this had a negative impact on employee attendance, destroying value for the public and private sector.

The attacks on foreign nationals and their property are associated with xenophobia and opportunistic acts of crime. These acts of crime and violence are nothing short of being home-grown terrorism, and a form of economic crime.
