Foundation Calls for Migratory Birds Protection in Nigeria

With the dwindling population of migratory birds, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) has called for their protection. The group also advised the Federal Government to promote eco-tourism through bird watching. NCF technical lead, Dr. Joseph Onoja, made the call during the virtual commemoration of the World Migratory Birds Day organised by the Foundation in Lagos. The celebration featured activities such as a virtual tour, bird watching tips, a quiz competition, and migratory birds video.

NCAC Holds Cultural Roundtable in Abuja

Low Turn Out at Osun-Osogbo Festival

The grand finale of the annual Osun-Osogbo festival ended on Friday with a low turnout of people to the grove as the annual cultural fiesta was observed in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government had on Tuesday announced a ban on social activities and gatherings at the Osun-Osogbo festival and restricted visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage site to worshippers only.

Lagos State to Stimulate Hospitality & Tourism Development

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved N1 billion seed capital for investment in tourism, as the state is set to drive a new growth in hospitality business. Sanwo-Olu announced the approval of the loan on Wednesday at the 6th Lagos Corporate Assembly held at the Banquet Hall in the State House, Alausa. The Governor said the investment was required to bolster the hospitality sector by providing key operators in tourism business with soft loans to boost their capacity in driving growth. The initiative, Sanwo-Olu observed, is necessary to position tourism business as a new frontier for job creation and economic prosperity in the post-Coronavirus era.
