A new plan to give more travellers a visit visa when they arrive at any UAE airport will encourage them to explore the country and boost tourism spending.

Madrid, Spain, 11 April 2018 - The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Government of Spain and the Principality of Asturias are organizing the 2nd UNWTO World Conference on Smart Destinations (Oviedo, 25-27 June 2018). The Conference will discuss the principles of 21st-century tourism destinations, marked by governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility.

The event, which is being held for the second year in a row, will bring together experts from around the world to discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from the development, implementation and management of innovative products and services based on new technological solutions.

“Innovation and technology present a unique opportunity to transform tourism into a more competitive, smarter and more sustainable sector,” said UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has assured residents of the state that the ongoing reconstruction of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, road and the Oshodi interchange will be completed by December 2018.

National Tourism Transport Summit and Expo 2018 Slated for May 21

Arrangement is on top gear for the staging of the first ever national tourism transport summit and exhibition, which has been scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja for May 21 – 22, with the theme: Tourism and transportation, the key sectors for sustainable growth and development.  

The summit, which is being powered by the Institute of Tourism Professionals (ITP), is coming on the heels of the 15thNational Council on Transportation meeting held in Sokoto in August 2017, where the need to have collaboration among the Federal Ministry of Transportation and other government and non-government agencies together with the private stakeholders across the transportation modes, tourism and hospitality value chain for sustainable economic growth and development.
